Rubbish on fire – Rochdale – April 14

AT 12.25am on April 14, two fire engines from Rochdale were mobilised to a building fire in Midhurst Street, Rochdale. The incident involved a quantity of timber and rubbish in a rear yard which had spread to the kitchen of the mid terraced house.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire.

Crews were in attendance for around two hours.  

 

Flat fire – Manchester – April 14

SIX fire engines from Salford, Manchester Central, Gorton and Moss Side were mobilised to a fire involving a sixth floor flat in Lockton Court, Manchester at 3.54pm on April 14.

Firefighters gained access to the flat using breaking in gear before tackling the fire with two hose jets and four breathing apparatus. Crews also used a thermal imaging camera and a gas detector before clearing smoke from the property with a positive pressure fan.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental by an unattended incense burner.
