Chip pan fire in Salford
At 15:03 on November 22 two fire engines from Manchester Central and fire engines from Salford and Broughton attended a fire involving a pan of food on a cooker in a flat on Rodney Street, Salford. The fire was out on arrival and the firefighters used a positive pressure ventilation unit to clear the smoke. Oxygen therapy was administered by a fire service trauma technician to one casualty suffering the effects of smoke inhalation, the casualty declined hospital treatment. Crews were in attendance for just over an hour and a half.
We would like to use this as an opportunity to remind everyone that chip pans are potentially very dangerous and where possible a safer alternative should be used. For more advice on what to do if your chip pan catches fire and the best ways to stay safe click here.
