Here’s a round-up of our notable incidents from 8:30 to 17:30 on March 8, 2017
Car crash - Salford
At 11:00 March 8, two fire engines from Agecroft and Eccles fire stations attended a car crash at Salford Royal Hospital where one person was rescued by fire personnel using road traffic collision equipment. Fire service personnel were engaged for 15 minutes and the casualty was conveyed to hospital by ambulance.
Aircraft avoids possible crash - Barton
At 14:30 on March 8, fire engines from Irlam, Stretford, Salford, Sale, Atherton and Leigh fire stations were mobilised to a report of a light aircraft coming into land at Barton Aerodrome with a rough running engine, which could have caused it to possibly crash on landing. Fire engines stood by awaiting the arrival of the aircraft, but it managed to land safely. Crews were in attendance for approximately forty minutes.
Clothing shop fire - Oldham
At 16:04 on March 8, two fire engines from Oldham and one from Hollins were mobilised to a fire involving a ground floor retail clothing shop on Tommyfield Market, Albion Street, Oldham. Firefighters used three hose reels, six breathing apparatus and one positive pressure ventilation fan to fight the fire, and are still presently dealing with the incident.
