Industrial rubbish fire in Manchester
At 17:36 on December 28, three fire engines from Gorton and Manchester central were mobilised to a fire involving one chair and a quantity of rubbish in an industrial unit on Hellidon Close, Manchester. Fire fighters used one hose reel and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire, and were in attendance for approximately one hour twenty minutes.
Recycling plant fire in Manchester
At 18:08 on December 28, three fire engines from Stretford and Eccles were mobilising to a quantity of recyclable cardboard on fire in a recycling plant on Trafford Wharf Road, Trafford Park, Manchester. Fire fighters used two hose reels, one thermal imaging camera, one hearth kit and ceiling hooks to fight the fire and were in attendance for approximately forty five minutes.
House fire in Radcliffe
At 19:33 on December 28, three fire engines from Whitefield, Bury and Broughton fire stations were mobilised to a domestic premises on Borough Avenue, Radcliffe. Firefighters extinguished the fire involving a quantity of clothing in bedroom of property by using one hose reel, two breathing apparatus, hearth kit, saw and lighting. Oxygen therapy was administered by fire service personnel and trauma bag used for one casualty suffering from smoke inhalation. An ambulance was also in attendance. Fire crews were in attendance for approximately one hour and thirty minutes.
Laundrette fire in Ashton
At 22:03 on December 28 one fire engine from Hollins, one from Ashton-Under-Lyne and one from Stalybridge attended a building fire on Holden Street, Ashton-Under-Lyne. On arrival crews found a tumble dryer on fire on the ground floor of a two storey commercial laundrette. Crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a positive pressure ventilation fan to bring the fire under control. Sprinkler systems are fitted in the property and aided in extinguishing the fire. Crews were detained for approximately eighty minutes.
House fire in Salford
At 23:34 on December 28, three fire engines from Salford, Broughton and Manchester Central fire stations were mobilised to a fire involving a light fitting and roof of a porch on a three storey domestic property on Angora Drive, Salford. Firefighters used one hose reel, one saw, one short extension ladder, one hearth kit and one thermal scanner to extinguish the fire and were in attendance for approximately one hour twenty minutes.
Barge fire in Stockport
At 04:45 on December 29, three fire engines from Stockport, Whitehill and Offerton, a Water Incident Unit from Eccles and an Environmental Protection Unit from Bury, were mobilised to a fire involving a barge on the Peak Forest Canal in Romiley, Stockport. Fire fighters used one hose reel, one air inflated hose reel, and ceiling hooks to extinguish the fire. General purpose lines were also used to ensure crew safety while fighting the fire. Crews were detained for approximately 3 hours.
