The below incidents took place on Friday, May 12:

RTC – Oldham

At 10.11am on Friday, May 12, two crews from Oldham and Hollins and the technical and major response units from Ashton were called to a road traffic collision in Honeywell Lane, Oldham.

Firefighters used hydraulic and stabilising equipment to rescue two female casualties from a single vehicle by removing the roof.

Crews were in attendance for one hour.

 

RTC – Bredbury

At 11.57am on Friday, May 12, two crews from Hyde and Whitehill and the technical and major response units from Ashton were called to a road traffic collision in Ashton Road, Bredbury.

Crews used specialist cutting equipment to rescue one casualty. Three other casualties were safely out of vehicles before the fire service arrived.

Crews were in attendance for one hour.

 

Kitchen fire – Stalybridge

At 6.05pm on Friday, May 12, three crews from Stalybridge, Ashton and Hyde were called to a fire involving a chip pan in a kitchen in a flat in High Street, Stalybridge.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and high-pressure fans to clear the smoke.

The fire started when cooking in a pan was left unattended. The flat was heavily smoke logged but the fire was contained to the kitchen.

No one was in the flat at the time of the incident and firefighters carried out a full search of the property and also checked neighbouring properties to ensure residents were safe.

Crews were at the scene until about 7.20pm. The cause of the fire was accidental.

 

Flat fire – Manchester

At 10.24pm on Friday, May 12, three crews from Phillips Park and Manchester Central were called to a flat fire in Bush Street, Manchester.

Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish a fire in a ground floor flat. A thermal imaging camera was used to ensure the fire was out and the electrics were isolated.

Crews were at the scene for about two hours.

Fire investigation officers carrying out a joint investigation with police into the cause of the fire.

 

Car and property fire – Manchester

At 10.25pm on Friday, May 12, a crew from Withington and two fire engines from Gorton were called to a fire in Wincombe Street, Manchester.

The fire involved a car on the roadway that had spread to the front of a property.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire, which also caused damage to the front bay window, guttering and front door of an end terrace property. No damage was caused to the inside of the house and there were no casualties.

Crews were at the scene until midnight.

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.
