RTC – Worsley

At 1.29pm on Monday, December 5, two crews from Farnworth, the technical response unit and major rescue unit from Ashton were called to a road traffic collision in Ellenbrook Road, Worsley.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision and firefighters used specialist equipment to release one casualty who was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Crews had dealt with the incident by about 2pm.

 

Residential property fire – Manchester

At 7.02pm on Monday, December 5, three crews from Moss Side and Gorton were called to a fire in a residential property in Anson Road, Manchester.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus searched all three floors and a basement of the property and extinguished fire on the ground floor using three hose reels. There was extensive smoke logging throughout the property.

Housed within the home were 17 residents and of these, 16 had self-evacuated after hearing the smoke alarm system sound. When completing their searches, firefighters led one elderly man to safety. A number of staff working in the property were also safely out on the arrival of the fire service.

Paramedics attended to give precautionary checks to a number of residents.

Crews were on scene for three hours.

A fire investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

 

Commercial property fire – Wigan

At 8.53pm on Monday, December 5, three crews from Wigan and Hindley were called to a commercial building fire in Templeton Road, Wigan.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used four hose reels, ladders and high-pressure fans to extinguish the fire and clear smoke from the property, which was a vacant car sales showroom and commercial garage.

Fire damage was caused to the mezzanine floor and smoke and heat damage to the roof insulation.

Crews had returned to their stations by 10.30pm.

The cause of the fire was deliberate. Anyone with information should call police on 101.
