Allotment fire – Manchester – April 12, 2017

AT 7.37pm on April 12, three fire engines from Gorton and Whitehill were mobilised to a large fire involving several timber buildings in an allotment site in Anchor Close, Levenshulme. The fire had also spread to an adjacent derelict cricket club.

Firefighters used three jets and a thermal imaging camera to tackle the blaze and were at the scene for approximately two hours and 15 minutes.

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

 

Flat fire – Leigh – April 12, 2017

THREE fire engines from Hindley, Atherton and Leigh were mobilised to a persons reported fire involving the ground floor of a domestic flat in Conway Close, Leigh at around 10.03pm on April 12.

On arrival crews wearing four breathing apparatus carried out primary and secondary searches of the flat and it was established that no one was inside the property.

Three hose reels were used to extinguish the fire and firefighters were detained for ninety minutes.
