Car crash - Wigan
At 12:06 on October 6 two fire engines from Wigan and Hindley with the Major Rescue Unit and Technical Response Unit both from Ashton-Under-Lyne, attended High Street, Standish in Wigan to reports of a road traffic collision with persons trapped. On arrival firefighters found the incident to be involving a large goods vehicle and a car. Two casualties self-rescued prior to fire service arrival. One casualty was extricated from a vehicle by fire service personnel using a saw. All three casualties were assessed by the ambulance services at the scene. Crews were in attendance for approximately thirty minutes.
Car crash – M60 near Prestwich
At 13:13 on October 6 three fire engines from Blackley and Heywood with the Major Response Unit and Technical Response Unit both from Leigh attended the m60 motorway clockwise carriageway to reports of a road traffic collision. Fire service personnel found the incident to be involving two vehicles, one of which was on its side. One casualty was conveyed to hospital via ambulance, two further casualties declined hospital treatment. Firefighters were detained for approximately fifty minutes.
