BETWEEN 8.30am and 5.30pm on Thursday, March 30, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service received 88 calls and attended 35 incidents.

Below are details of some incidents crews attended:

 

Rubbish fire - Fallowfield

AT 12.57pm on Thursday, March 30, two fire engines from Moss Side and a fire engine from Withington attended a fire in Colwyn Avenue in Fallowfield.

On arrival firefighters found a large quantity of rubbish alight to the rear of the property. They used one hose reel and one breathing apparatus to bring the fire under control.

Firefighters remained on the scene for twenty five minutes.

 

Rescue of person – Manchester

AT 5.03pm on Thursday, March 30, two technical rescue units, a major rescue unit, a special response team and a water incident unit from Leigh, Ashton and Heywood assisted Greater Manchester Police with the rescue of an individual from a storm tank near Smedley Lane, Manchester.

Crews used dry suits, escape equipment, gas detecting equipment and floatation devices.

One casualty was checked over by a trauma technician.

Crews were on the scene for approximately three hours.
