Between 8.30am on Saturday, August 13, and 8.30am today Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service received 160 emergency '999' calls.... a summary of the main incidents to note is included below.

6.02pm - Two fire engines from Salford and two special rescue appliances from Ashton attended a collision in Barton Road, Stretford, after a 999 caller suggested someone was trapped inside one of the vehicles. Crew stabilised one vehicle so that a passenger could get out. They were cared for by North West Ambulance Service and later transferred to hospital. Firefighters were on the scene for about 20 minutes.

00.32am - A fire engine from Wigan went to Rectory Lane, Wigan, to extinguish a fire in a portable accommodation unit. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire with two jets and a short extension ladder. They were there for about two hours.
