Fatal flat fire - Clifton - Wednesday, March 22

Flat fire – Clifton

AT 12.31am on Wednesday, March 22, three fire engines from Agecroft, Whitefield and Farnworth were mobilised to an incident at Richmond Court in Berry Street, Clifton.

On arrival crews discovered a fire in a first floor flat and firefighters used six breathing apparatus and three hose reels to tackle the fire. The fire was under control shortly after 1am.

Following a search of the flats by firefighters, the body of a man was found and a joint investigation with Greater Manchester Police has been launched to establish the cause of the fire.

Some residents from neighbouring homes evacuated their properties.

One fire engine remains at the scene this morning.
