Building fire - Stalybridge - Oct 11, 2016

Borough: Tameside

Incident Date: 11 October 2016

Building fire – Stalybridge

At 7.01pm on Tuesday (Oct 11) the fire service was called to a building fire in Huddersfield Road, Millbrook, Stalybridge.

Both floors of the two-storey empty building, which is an old vicarage, were one fire.

Four fire engines and an aerial platform attended and attacked the fire with hose reels and jets.

Crews tackled the blaze from outside the building because the structure was compromised and by 10.30pm the majority of the fire was out and under control. The incident was then scaled down by about 1am and one crew remained at the incident overnight.

Firefighters left the address at around midday on Wednesday, October 12.

An investigation into the cause of the fire has taken place and the most likely cause is deliberate ignition.
