Saturday, December 31

Tumble dryer fire – Ashton-Under-Lyne

At 3.04pm two fire engines from Stalybridge and Ashton-under-Lyne attended a tumble dryer fire in an outbuilding fire in Rutland Street in Ashton-under-Lyne. Crews used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and were at the incident for 35 minutes. Cause of the fire is accidental.

Commercial property fire – Portland Street, Manchester

At 7.57pm four fire engines from Manchester Central, Moss Side, Philips Park and Salford attended an incident in Portland Street in Manchester. The fire involved external insulation of a commercial property. Firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish the fire and were on the scene for 30 minutes.

Small fire – Hindley

At 8.36pm two fire engines from Hindley and Wigan attended a building fire in Amber Gardens in Hindley. The fire involved fence panels, wheelie bins and the facia of a neighbouring garage. Firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish the fire and were on the scene for 25 minutes.

 

Sunday, January 1

Cooking fire - Leigh

At 7.26pm three fire engines from Leigh, Atherton and Hindley attended a cooking fire in the kitchen of a semi-detached property. The fire in Kenilworth Drive in Leigh was extinguished by firefighters wearing two breathing apparatus using a hose reel and large ventilation fan. Crews were on the scene for around 45 minutes.  The cause of the fire was accidental.

 

Monday, January 2

Derelict school building fire - Manchester

At 2.50am five fire engines from Sale, Stretford, Moss Side and Wythenshawe attended a fire at a disused school in Yewtree Lane in Manchester. Firefighters wearing two breathing apparatus used two jets, a hose reel and a large ventilation fan to extinguish the fire. Firefighters were at the incident for over 8 hours.  The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

Commercial building fire - Manchester

At 3.25pm three fire engines from Philips Park and Gorton attended a fire in a commercial building in Lees Street in Manchester. When firefighters arrived, they found the fire on the first floor of the building and wearing four sets of breathing apparatus, they used two hose reels to extinguish the fire. Crews were at the scene for one hour and 45 minutes.

Derelict building fire - Denton

At 8.52pm three fire engines from Gorton, Ashton-under-Lyne and Hyde attended a fire in a derelict building in Amelia Street in Denton. There was a sofa which was on fire and crews extinguished it using a hose reel and were at the scene for just under one hour.
