Group Manager Ian Bailey, who is in charge of the incident, said: “The early actions of our crew has prevented this fire from spreading and saved the neighbouring businesses.
“The large plume of smoke may have caused the public some concern, but we managed to get on top of the fire very quickly.
“We will be in the area for some time and local residents should expect some disruption and the closure of some minor roads in the area.”
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage. Nobody is thought to have been injured.

MORE than 30 firefighters are dealing with a fire involving a number of scrap cars in Rochdale.
North West Fire Control received several reports of a fire on Corporation Road at 1.52pm on Friday, August 7, 2015.
People reported seeing thick black smoke across Greater Manchester.
Firefighters are using jets and ground monitors to bring the fire under control and a cordon is in place, which is being managed by Greater Manchester Police.
Residents in the smoke plume are advised to close their windows and doors and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
