WARM hearted firefighters braved the freezing weather yesterday to help their local community.
The Marple based crew got in touch with local surgeries, senior citizens hall and an NHS clinic, which provides a number of services to new mothers and the elderly on Thursday, January 29, 2015 to see if they needed the snow clearing and paths gritting to allow better access for the public.
Watch Manager, Simon Dowling, said: “The snow was particularly bad in Marple and approximately four inches of snow fell in just a few hours.
“We knew that a number of local amenities would need the snow clearing so we grabbed our gloves and shovels to clear the pathways so that the public could access the buildings safely.
“We were thanked by the staff who were surprised firefighters carried out things like this.”
