Incident Date: 29 March 2017
Between 8am and 5.30pm on Wednesday, March 29, approximately 75 calls have been made to North West Fire Control relating to incidents in the Greater Manchester area, with around 35 requiring emergency response.
Below are some of the incidents attended by our firefighters today.
Tottington flat fire
At 8.55am on Wednesday, March 29, four fire engines were called after a fire broke out in a first-floor flat in Market Street, Tottington.
An aerial appliance, similar to a cherry picker and used to apply water from above, was also used, and joined engines from Bury, Whitefield, Ramsbottom and Bolton North.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels to tackle the fire, which was located in the flat above a commercial property.
Firefighters were at the incident for around seven hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Manchester cooking fire
At 12.47pm on Wednesday, March 29, three fire engines, from Manchester Central, Gorton and Philips Park community fire stations, were called to reports of a fire in Abbotsbury Close, Manchester.
Wearing breathing apparatus and using a hose reel, firefighters extinguished the fire which involved a grill pan.
Firefighters were in attendance at the incident for around one hour.
