Road Traffic Collision – Leigh

At 8.17am a fire engine from Atherton and the technical response unit from Leigh attended a road traffic collision on Holden Road, Leigh involving two vehicles.

Firefighters used cutting equipment and chocks to release one casualty who was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Firefighters were in attendance for 50 minutes.

House Fire - Bury

At 1.33pm a fire engine from Heywood attended a house fire on Parkhills Road, Bury. 

Firefighters used a hearth kit and short extension ladder.  A fire service trauma technician assessed one casualty.

Firefighters were in attendance for 45 minutes.

Road Traffic Collision – Wigan

At 1.36pm two fire engines from Wigan and the Technical Response Unit and Major Response Unit from Leigh attended a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on Ashton Road, Billinge.

Firefighters released one casualty.  A second casualty was treated at the scene by a fire service trauma technician.  Both casualties were then taken to hospital.

Firefighters were in attendance for an hour and 30 minutes.

Caravan Fire - Oldham

At 1.58pm two fire engines from Blackley and Chadderton attended a caravan fire on open land on Sunfield Avenue, Oldham. 

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and two hose reels.

Firefighters were in attendance for 35 minutes.

Commercial Rubbish Fire - Leigh

At 4.11pm three fire engines from Leigh, Hindley and Atherton attended a commercial rubbish fire on St Helens Road, Leigh.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel.

Firefighters were in attendance for 45 minutes.

Road Traffic Collision - Manchester

At 4.15pm two fire engines from Moss Side, the Technical Response Unit and Major Rescue Unit from Ashton attended a three vehicle road traffic collision on Chorlton Road, Manchester.

Firefighters released two casualties using cutting gear, long board and stabilisation equipment.  Both casualties were assessed by fire service trauma technicians.

Firefighters were in attendance for approximately two hours.

Road Traffic Collision - Carrington

At 5.48pm a fire engine from Stretford, a fire engine from Altrincham and the Technical Response Unit from Ashton attended a two vehicle road traffic collision on Carrington Lane, Carrington.

Firefighters released one casualty who was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Firefighters were in attendance for one hour and 40 minutes.

Derelict Building Fire - Irlam

At 9.20pm fire engines from Eccles, Stretford and Irlam attended a fire at a derelict tower block on Cadishead Way, Irlam.

Firefighters used a hose reel and thermal imaging camera.

Firefighters were in attendance for one hour and 20 minutes.

Road Traffic Collision – Blackrod, Bolton

At 10.06am firefighters were called to a road traffic collision in Chorley Road in Blackrod. Two fire engines and a technical response unit and major response unit attended the incident where there was reports of someone trapped.

When Crew arrived they found one car on its side with one person trapped inside. Firefighters used specialist equipment to remove the person from the vehicle safely and then North West Ambulance Service took over caring for the casualty.

Firefighters were in attendance for  45 minutes.

Tumble Dryer Fire – Stockport

Just after noon fire engines attended a fire in a flat in Stonemill Terrace, Lancashire Hill in Stockport. The fire started with a tumble dryer on the second floor property.

Two adults and a baby got out of the property before firefighters arrived and were checked over at the scene by paramedics from North West Ambulance Service at the scene.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire in the property and we there for around two hours.  The cause of the fire was accidental.

House Fire – Sale

At 2.13pm firefighters attended a fire in a terraced house in James Street, Sale.

The fire on the ground floor of the end of terraced property was tackled by firefighters using hose reels and wearing breathing apparatus.

Crew were in attendance for around two hours.

Washing Machine Fire – South Manchester

At 3.06pm firefighters from Salford, Gorton and Stretford attended a house fire in Alexandra Road, South Manchester involving a washing machine.

Firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and a large fan to clear the property of smoke.

Firefighters were in attendance for around 45 minutes. The cause of the fire was accidental.

Road Traffic Collision – Kingsway, Manchester

At 10.45pm firefighters from Withington and Stockport attended a road traffic collision on Kingsway in Manchester. The technical rescue unit and major rescue unit also attended the incident which involved three vehicles.

One casualty was removed from the vehicle using specialist equipment and was handed over to the care of awaiting ambulance staff.

Firefighters were in attendance for 50 minutes.

House Fire – Farnworth

At 10.45pm three fire engines from Farnworth and Bolton Central attended a house fire on Egerton Street, Farnworth involving a waste bin.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, a hose reel and pressure fan.

Firefighters were in attendance for 35 minutes.

House Fire – Partington

At 11.12pm three fire engines from Sale, Stretford and Irlam attended a house fire on Verbena Close, Partington.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, a hose reel and pressure fan.

Firefighters were in attendance for 50 minutes.

Commercial Fire - Failsworth

At 3.53am three fire engines from Hollins, Philips Park and Manchester Central  attended a commercial fire involving an industrial unit and shipping container on Mill Lane, Failsworth.

Firefighters used a hose reel, nine metre ladder and thermal imaging camera.

Firefighters were in attendance for 45 minutes.
