AROUND 30 firefighters and officers are dealing with a building fire in Salford.
Emergency calls were made to North West Fire Control at 2.10pm on Thursday, April 28, 2016 about a fire involving a derelict building on Redwood Street.
Firefighters from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) are tackling the fire and have used an aerial appliance and a high pressure lance.
Station Manager Paul Fearnhead, who is in charge of the incident, said: “Crew members are working hard to fight the fire involving a single storey derelict building and attached office block and have used an aerial appliance and a lance to tackle the fire from outside.
“We are asking those in the vicinity to keep windows and doors closed while there is smoke in the air and drivers to avoid the area if they can.”
Firefighters are likely to remain at the incident into the evening.
