FIRE crew have rescued a horse after it became trapped in a ditch in Carrington.

Firefighters from Heywood, Altrincham and Eccles stations were scrambled to reports of a horse that had become stuck in mud down an embankment this afternoon (Monday, October 27, 2014) off Banky Lane.

The call came through to North West Fire Control just before 12pm after staff from Millar Landscapes had seen the horse in difficulty while they were working in the area.

When firefighters arrived they could see the horse was unable to move so they secured ropes, a harness and kick boards before bringing the animal to safety where it was assessed by the RSPCA.
