GREATER Manchester Fire and Rescue (GMFRS) is reminding people to take care with their candles after a fire started in a high-rise building.
Firefighters from Wythenshawe, Withington, Gorton and Cheadle were called to a Birch Court, to a third story flat, on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, after a fire started in the lounge.
Watch Manager Alan Dook, said: “We believe a lit candle left on top of a TV caused it to set on fire.
“The occupants were out at the time but raised the alarm when they returned to find the flat on fire.
“Please can we remind people to never leave a lit candle unattended and take care when using candles at home and not place them on anything that could catch fire and also ensure they are in suitable holders.”
