FIREFIGHTERS are urging people to take care when cooking with oil after a fire broke out at a house in Bolton.
Two fire engines from Farnworth and Bolton North stations attended and on arrival were met with a well developed fire in the kitchen of a mid-terraced property.
Crew were sent to the incident at 12.07pm (Tuesday, July 22, 2014) after a report of a building fire.
Firefighters quickly got the fire under control and prevented it from spreading from neighbouring properties.
Two children who were in the property at the time were already outside by the time the fire service arrived. Although shaken, they declined hospital treatment.
Firefighter Robert Orrell said: "The crews did a fantastic job to get this fire under control very quickly to stop it spreading.
"There was significant damage in the kitchen and to the rest of the property due to the doors of the house being open.
"It's really important to close your doors especially when cooking so if accidents do happen, the smoke won't spread to the rest of the house."
