FIREFIGHTERS say a woman who was injured in a road traffic collision last night could owe her life to her seatbelt.
The 21-year-old was a rear seat passenger in a car that was involved in a collision with another vehicle in Bolton Road, Ashton in Makerfield, at around 1am (February 1).
The force of the collision caused the car to flip over and two parked cars were damaged by the impact.
Firefighters from Wigan had to cut the roof off to free the casualty on a board, into the care of paramedics.
Watch Manager Colin Moran said: “We stabilised the vehicle and had to remove the roof as the vehicle had substantial damage. She was really lucky - if she hadn’t been wearing a seatbelt she may well have suffered life changing injuries or worse.”
