FIREFIGHTERS have spent the night fighting a fire on Cobden Street, Salford.
North West Fire Control sent three fire engines and a specialist environmental vehicle to Salford Skip Hire just before 1am this morning (Tuesday, November 18, 2014).
Firefighters from Salford, Broughton and Manchester stations brought the fire under control using two jets and also used thermal imaging cameras to check for any further signs of fire.
Station Manager, Ian Tracey, said: “Crew have worked well to get the fire under control quickly. We are currently working with the site owners who are assisting us by moving the waste with diggers so we can keep putting water on it”
There is currently disruption to traffic on Broughton Road due to hoses that have been laid to the hydrants on the main road.
It is anticipated we will be at the scene for the rest of the day. The cause of the fire is not known.
