Woman rescued from muddy bog in Heywood

Borough: Rochdale

Incident Date: 16 November 2016

AT 1:32pm today (November 16) three crews from Heywood, Rochdale and Ashton, including a water incident unit, were called to an incident in Rochdale Road East, Heywood.

The emergency call to North West Fire Control referred to a woman in her 20s and her horse being trapped in a muddy bog. The woman had entered the field to get her horse to safety as the condition of the field had deteriorated.

Firefighters used two inflatable paths to gain access to assist and helped to free the woman – who was waist-deep in mud - using a specialist lance. She was then assessed by North West Ambulance Service.
