Horse dies following Stockport farm fire

Borough: Stockport

Incident Date: 14 July 2015

A HORSE has died following a fire that destroyed a number of stables at a farm in Stockport.

Three crews from Marple, Offerton and Stockport were called to Winnington Road, Marple, at 1.25am on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, after a number of calls were made to North West Fire Control.

When crews arrived on the scene a number of stables and outbuildings were well alight.

Firefighters also discovered that two LPG cylinders were involved in the fire so they used jets to cool them down and safely remove them.

They used hose reels to bring the fire under control and were on the scene for almost three hours, but due to the severity of the blaze the stables and outbuildings were completely destroyed and the roofs collapsed.

An investigation is now underway to establish the cause of the fire.
