Electrical fault believed to be the cause of Ashton-under-Lyne house fire

Firefighters prevented a fire in Ashton-under-Lyne spreading to adjacent houses on Saturday. November 12, 2016.

At 11.22am North West Fire Control received reports of a fire involving the first floor and loft of a mid-terraced house in Leam Street.

Stockport cooking fire

At 5.35pm on Saturday, November 12, three fire engines, from Offerton, Whitehill and Stockport, were called to a semi-detached house in Brooklyn Road.

Crew members discovered a fire involving food inside a microwave and wearing breathing apparatus they tackled it using a hose reel.

A woman (age unknown) was treated for the effects of smoke by firefighters.

Firefighters were at the incident for around 30 minutes.

The most likely cause of the fire is accidental, by cooking left unattended.

Manchester cooking fire

At 7.45pm on Saturday, November 12, four fire engines, from Gorton, Philips Park and Ashton-under-Lyne, went to reports of a flat fire in Hollybush Street.

Wearing breathing apparatus firefighters used a hose reel to tackle a fire involving a pan of food. A positive pressure fan was also used to remove smoke from the property.

A woman (age unknown) was led to safety by firefighters.

Firefighters were at the incident for around one hour.

The most likely cause of the fire is accidental, by cooking left unattended.

Salford caravan fire

On Monday, November 14, 2016 at 2.27am two fire engines from Salford attended a caravan fire in Hankinson Way.

Wearing breathing apparatus firefighters used a hose reel to tackle the fire, which was unoccupied.

Crew members were at the incident for around one hour.

The fire is thought to have been started deliberately.
