Incident Date: 12 January 2017
M62 collision, junction 21 to 22 Eastbound
At 1.16pm on Thursday, January 12, firefighters from Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire were called to reports of a collision on the motorway.
Two fire engines, a Technical Response Unit and a Major Rescue Unit, from GMFRS went to the incident which involved a HGV and two cars.
Firefighters stabilised the vehicles and released a man from one of the vehicles using specialist equipment and gave oxygen therapy to him.
A further two men were treated with oxygen and assessed by ambulance staff.
All three casualties (ages unknown) were taken to hospital and the motorway was closed by the Highways Agency and the police.
Firefighters were at the incident for almost two hours.
Bungalow fire, Wigan
Three fire engines, from Wigan and Hindley, were sent to a bungalow in Tamworth Drive at 3.07pm on Thursday, January 12.
The fire involved the roof of the semi-detached property and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels and jets of water to attack the blaze.
As of 5.30pm firefighters remained at the incident.
