Here is a selection of incidents from the weekend, covering 6pm Friday, August 5, to 8am Monday, August 8:
At 7.32pm on Friday, August 5, we were called to a fire involving a plastic storage shed, which was attached to a school building on Lower Seedley Road, Salford. Firefighters used one hose reel, a short extension ladder and a thermal image camera in bringing the fire under control. Crews from Salford, Agecroft and Manchester Central attended and were there for an hour.
We were called at 11.01pm on Friday August 5, to a fire in a bedroom of a town house on Pleasant Gardens, Bolton. Firefighters used two breathing kits, one hose reel and a ventilation unit to bring the fire under control. Two fire engines from Bolton Central and a fire engine from Bolton North attended and were on scene for 40 minutes.
At 10.30am on Saturday, August 6, we were called to Cheltenham Avenue, Ince, where the kitchen in a terraced house was on fire. Crews used two breathing kits, one hose reel and fan to disperse the smoke. Firefighters from Wigan and Hindley attended and were there for 45 minutes.
We were called at 3.50pm to a fire off Cow Lane, Offerton, Stockport where grass was alight. The area on fire was 300 metres by 100 metres and crews used one jet and six beaters to put it out and damp down. The incident was attended by Offerton, Stockport and Whitehill and they left at 5.31pm.
At 4.37pm on Saturday, August 8, we attended a fire in a kitchen of a first floor flat on Stanhope Street, Audenshaw. Crews provided oxygen for a casualty suffering with smoke inhalation. Firefighters used two breathing kits, one hose reel jet and a fan to deal with the incident. Fire engines from Ashton under Lyne, Hyde and Stalybridge were there for 45 minutes.
We were called at 7.20pm on Saturday, August 6, to a fire involving a mattress at the rear of a food store on Well I’ Th’ Lane, Rochdale, which spread to an unoccupied building. Firefighters from Heywood and Chadderton use a hose reel and short extension ladder, as well as breaking in gear and a hearth kit to put the fire out. The crews were on the scene for an hour.
At 5.54pm on Sunday, August 7, we were called to a fire on Rake Lane, Swinton, which involved plastic in a recycling factory. Firefighters used four breathing kits, one hose reel and a covering jet to bring the fire under control. Fans were used to clear the smoke from several properties. Crews from Agecroft, Whitefield and Salford attended and were there for three hours.
We were called at 5.21pm on Sunday, August 7, to a fire involving rubbish in the doorway of a property on Gifford Avenue, Manchester. Firefighters from Blackley, Chadderton and Hollins used two breathing kits and one hose reel to bring the fire under control and then ventilated the property with a fan. One casualty was treated by the Service for smoke inhalation. The crews were on the scene for 30 minutes.
At 5.13am on Monday, August 8, crews from Broughton, Whitefield and Agecroft went to a fire involving storage rooms on the ground and second floors of a two-storey building on Bent Lane, Prestwich. Firefighters used a hose and two breathing kits to put the fire out and were there for 45 minutes.
