GMFRS has received 175 calls over the last 24 hours between 9am Tuesday, September 6, and 9am Wednesday, September 7, here is a summary of the most newsworthy incidents.
Severe flat fire in Levenshulme
At 18:46 five fire engines were called to a severe flat fire on Central Avenue in Levenshulme. A crew from Gorton, Withington, Philips Park, Whitehill and Hyde attended the blaze.
At the height of the fire six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were inside the property to try to extinguish the fire and carry out a search. The crew used three jets, one large fan, thermal imaging cameras and breaking in gear.
The crew were in attendance for around three and a half hours and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Kitchen fire in Stretford
At 18:57 two fire engines from Salford and Moss Side attended a kitchen fire on Edge Lane, Stretford.
The crew extinguished a plastic utensil on top of the hob and carried out a Safe and Well Check for the resident, who was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital as a precaution.
Kitchen fire in Manchester
Three fire engines from Farnworth and Leigh were sent to house fire on Wolsey Street at 19:14 and used a high pressure fan to clear smoke from a small quantity of clothing on a hob.
Two people suffered from smoke inhalation and were treated by paramedics at the scene.
House fire in Salford
At 19:16 three fire engines from Eccles and Agecroft attended a house fire on Vicarage Close, Salford
The crew used a jet and four firefighters in breathing apparatus to bring the fire under control and were at the scene for over three and a half hours.
