Wood burning stoves floods house with smoke
At 8.35pm a crew from Stretford, Sale and Eccles were called to a property on Princes Road, Urmston, following reports of a fire involving a wood burning stove.
Firefighters used a dry powder extinguisher and a high pressure fan to tackle the blaze and clear smoke from the home. The crew were on the scene for around thirty minutes.
Wheelie bin set alight in North Manchester home
At 9.53pm a crew from Manchester Central and Philips Park were called to a house on Thornton Street in north Manchester after a reports that a wheelie bin had been set alight in the property.
Firefighters used a hose reel and high pressure fan to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to ensure it hadn’t spread.
The fire was believed to have been started deliberately and officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) also attended the incident.
Bin store blaze spreads to Oldham maisonette
At 1.20am a crew from Oldham and Hollins were called to a fire involving a bin store in a maisonette on Norfolk Street, Oldham.
On arrival firefighters found the fire had spread to flats on the ground and first floor of the complex.
Firefighters rescued one man in his mid-twenties from a first floor window and four firefighters in breathing apparatus used two hose reels and a high pressure fan to tackle the blaze.
Crew remain at the scene and a joint investigation into the fire has been launched by GMP and fire investigators from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
