Kitchen fire - Manchester
AT 3:44am on Sunday, July 16, two crews from Salford and one from Moss Side and Manchester Central and a hydraulic platform from Manchester Central attended a flat fire involving an electric oven in Ellesmere Street, Manchester.
The fire in the ground floor flat had ignited after food had been left unattended in the oven for too long. A wooden cutting board placed in oven carelessly due to occupier being intoxicated and falling asleep on floor.
On arrival, crews forced entry into the property wearing two breathing apparatus and extinguished the flames using one hose reel, a gas detector and a ventilation fan.
One casualty was rescued from the property and treated by a fire service trauma technician. Crews were in attendance for one hour.
Kitchen fire – Newton Heath
AT 11:49am on Sunday, July 16, three crews from Manchester Central and Philips Park attended a kitchen fire in Mitchell Street, Newton Heath.
The fire at a semi-detached property involved a pan of food left on a cooker for too long.
Firefighters wearing two breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using one hose reel and ventilation fan.
The cause of the fire was accidental. Crews were in attendance for approximately thirty minutes.
