Between 5.30pm on Friday, December 15 and 8am on Monday, December 18, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended 238 incidents. Read about some of the ones we attended on Sunday below.
House fire – Wigan
AT 3:34am on Sunday, December 17, three crews from Wigan and Hindley attended a house fire in Heyford Road, Wigan.
The fire involved the living room of a vacant property and the fire is thought to have been deliberate. Firefighters wearing four breathing apparatus used two hose reels and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the flames.
Crews were at the scene for approximately one and a half hours.
Garden shed fire – Leigh
AT 3:26pm on Sunday, December 17, two crews from Leigh and Hindley were called to reports of a fire in Cameron Street, Leigh.
On arrival, crews discovered a fire involving a garden shed. Firefighters used one hose reel and breaking in gear to access the shed and extinguished the flames.
The cause of the fire is thought to be deliberate. Crews were in attendance for forty minutes.
Chip pan fire – Manchester
AT 6:51pm on Sunday, December 17, three crews from Moss Side, Manchester Central and Salford attended a kitchen fire in Dudley Road, Manchester.
Two Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames involving a chip pan using one hose reel, a positive pressure ventilation fan, hearth kit and lighting.
Crews were at the scene for one hour and twenty minutes.
