Flat fire – Eccles
AT 8:11pm on Friday, August 4, four crews from Manchester Central, Eccles and Salford and one aerial ladder platform and two support engines from Stretford and Atherton attended a fire at a flat above a pub in Church Road, Eccles.
Firefighters wearing six breathing apparatus used three hose reels, a positive pressure ventilation fan, a thermal imaging camera and a nine metre ladder to extinguish the flames.
The cause of the fire was accidental and was due to faulty electrical wiring in the roof of the flat.
Crews were in attendance for approximately two hours and thirty minutes.
Flat fire - Levenshulme
AT 11:30pm on Friday, August 4, three crews from Gorton and Philips Park attended a flat fire in Mellands Court, Levenshulme.
On arrival, crews discovered a fire involving a small quantity of paper and a mop bucket. Firefighters used one hose reel and one positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the flames.
One casualty was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital as a precaution.
The cause of the fire was deliberate. Firefighters were on the scene for forty minutes.
