Overnight we received 74 calls and responded to 38 incidents, below is a selection of three of the incidents that we attended.
Wednesday, September 6
Tumble dryer fire – Manchester
AT 22.19pm on Wednesday, September 6, two fire engines from Gorton and one from Philips Park were called to a tumble dryer fire in the kitchen of a house in Clitheroe Road, Manchester.
When crews arrived they found the door of the tumble dryer alight , which required them to use one hose reel and a ventilation fan to extinguish and remove the smoke. Once the fire was safely out they used a thermal imaging camera to check for fire spread.
The cause of the fire was accidental and crews remained on the scene for 20 minutes.
Thursday, September 7
Lorry fire – M62
AT 03.23am on Thursday, September 7, three fire engines from Warrington, Birchwood and Leigh were called to a lorry fire on the M62.
On arrival firefighters found a large goods vehicle well alight which required them to use two breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish.
Firefighters were on the scene for one hour and 15 minutes, the cause of the fire was accidental.
Building fire – Hyde
AT 04.37am on Thursday, September 7, three fire engines from Ashton-Under-Lyne, Staylbridge and Hyde were called to a flat fire on Meadowfield Court, Hyde.
On arrival firefighters found the ground floor of the building was well alight and had to use six breathing apparatus and two hose reels to bring it under control.
Firefighters remained on the scene for two hours and 15 minutes. The course of the fire was thought to have been deliberate and investigations will continue.
