Kitchen fire – Ashton-In-Makerfield

AT 12:01am on Thursday, June 8, two crews from Wigan and Hindley attended a kitchen fire at a terraced house in Wigan Road, Ashton-In-Makerfield.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze using a high pressure lance, one hose reel and a ventilation unit to bring the fire under control.

A defective fridge motor was the cause of the fire, starting at the back of the fridge and spreading to wooden panels and worktops.

Crews were in attendance for just over one hour.
