Overnight incidents – Wednesday, January 24, 2018

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended 39 incidents overnight between 5.30pm on January 24 and 8.00am on January 25, 2018. Read about some of them below.

Kitchen fire – Tyldesley

AT 5:41pm on Wednesday, January 24, three crews from Atherton and Farnworth attended a kitchen fire at a semi-detached house in Meadow Walk, Tyldesley.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using one hose reel and a positive pressure ventilation fan.

Crews were on the scene for one hour and twenty minutes.

Car fire – Manchester

AT 10:19pm on Wednesday, January 24, one crew from Philips Park attended a car fire in Clayton Street, Manchester.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the flames. One casualty was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Crews were on the scene for approximately one hour and ten minutes.

RTC – Manchester

AT 11:47pm on Wednesday, January 24 two crews from Moss Side and Withington and the Technical Response Unit, and Major Rescue Unit from Ashton-Under-Lyne attended a road traffic collision involving two vehicles at the junction of St Weburghs Road and Wilbraham Road, Manchester.

Firefighters rescued one casualty using stabalisation, hydraulics and lighting and assisted the second casualty from their vehicle. Both were then taking to hospital by paramedics.

Crews were on the scene for one hour and twenty minutes.

Flat fire – Irlam

AT 4:01am on Thursday, January 25, three crews from Eccles and Irlam attended a fire involving an electrical unit in the hallway of a ground floor flat in Cutnook Lane, Irlam.

Firefighters wearing two breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using one hose reel and a positive pressure ventilation fan.

Crews were in attendance for two hours.
