House fire - Bolton
AT 11:16pm on Wednesday, February 28, three crews from Bolton Central and Bolton North attended a fire at a mid-terraced property in Turton Street, Bolton.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using two hose reels and a positive pressure ventilation fan.
The cause of the fire is thought to be deliberate and is now under investigation with the police. Crews were at the scene for fifty minutes.
Gas leak - Bolton
AT 5:50am three crews from Bolton Central and Bury were called to an incident at an industrial plant in Lever Street, Bolton to reports of a hydrogen fluoride gas leak.
One man suffered chemical burns to his face and upper limbs whilst try to connect a hydrogen fluoride gas cylinder to a pipepline. Despite being burned, he managed to close the cylinder to stop further damage.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and chemical protection suits checked over the suspected leaking cylinder using litmus paper. Crews found that the cylinder was no longer leaking and was deemed safe.
The casualty has been taken to hospital by the ambulance service. The incident is now being inspected by health and safety investigators.
Crews were in attendance for approximately two hours.
