Between 5.30pm on Tuesday, October 3 and 8am on Wednesday, October 4, we received 88 calls and attended 40 incidents.
Outbuilding fire – Wigan
AT 22.18pm on Tuesday, October 3, two fire engines from Wigan were called to a fire in Eliot Drive, Wigan.
On arrival firefighters found the shed well alight and used one hose reel to extinguish the flames.
The cause of the fire was thought to have been accidental and firefighters were in attendance for 30 minutes.
Building fire – Longsight
AT 02.31am on Wednesday, October 4, three fire engines Gorton and Moss Side attended a building fire in Dickenson Road, Longsight.
The fire was thought to have been started deliberately in the ground floor of the property, with crews using two breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish it.
Firefighters remained at the incident for one hour and 40 minutes.
Waste fire – Manchester
AT 04.04am on Wednesday, October 4, three fire engines from Philips Park and Manchester Central, were called to a waste fire in Redgate Lane, Manchester.
On arrival firefighters found around 30 tons of recyclable waste well alight in the back of an articulated vehicle. Firefighters used one hose reel and one jet to extinguish the fire, before using a thermal imagining camera to scan for hot spots.
The cause of the fire was thought to have been accidental and firefighters remained at the incident for one hour and 20 minutes.
