Tumble dryer fire - Altrincham
AT 9pm on Tuesday, June 6, three crews from Stretford, Sale and Altrincham attended a tumble dryer fire in Heath View, Altrincham.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze in the basement of the property using one hose reel. Crews used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke and ventilate the property once the fire was extinguished.
Crews were on the scene for one hour and thirty minutes. The cause of the fire was due to fault with the appliance.
Watch Manager Allan Dowell, from Altrincham community fire station who attended the fire said: “A number of appliances have appeared on recalled lists in recent months, including items from Hotpoint, Indesit, Creda, Swan and Proline tumble dryers. This incident is a reminder to the people of Greater Manchester to check if their appliance has been recalled and to also be aware of the risks connected with tumble dryers and keep them safe at home.”
