Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended 46 incidents overnight between 5.30pm on February 1 and 8.30am on February 2, 2018, including a flat fire involving an electric heater.
Electric heater fire – Stockport
JUST after 8pm on February 6, four fire engines from Whitehill, Hyde, Ashton, and Offerton, and the aerial appliance from Whitehill attended a flat fire at Brecon Towers, Blackberry Lane, in Brinnington, Stockport. The fire involved an electric heater in a sixth-floor flat. The fire was out on arrival, but one adult and two children were found to be suffering from the slight effects of smoke. Crews were in attendance for 45 minutes.
Road traffic collision – Stretford
AT 9.25pm on February 6, two fire engines from Moss Side and Stretford, and the technical response unit from Ashton under Lyne attended a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on the junction of Ellesmere Road and Wilbraham Road, Manchester. One casualty had freed themselves and another was rescued from the car by firefighters using specialist equipment. Both casualties were taken to hospital for precautionary checks. Crews were on the scene for just over an hour.
