Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended 54 incidents overnight between 5.30pm on December 20 and 8.30am on December 21, 2017. Read about a kitchen fire we attended below.

Kitchen fire - Prestwich

AT 2.12am on Thursday, December 21, three fire engines from Whitefield, Broughton and Agecroft were called to a kitchen fire in Clifton Road, Prestwich.

On arrival crews found that the fire began due to a fault with the fridge freezer in the address. To extinguish the fire crews used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels. Once the fire was out they used the ventilation fan to help clear the smoke. 

One person was helped from the property by firefighters as they were suffering from smoke inhalation, ambulance staff continued to care for them once they were safely out the house.

Firefighters remained at the incident for two hours and 45 minutes.
