Washing machine fire – Oldham

AT 21.52pm on Wednesday, February 14, three fire engines from Hollins and Oldham were called to a washing machine fire in Second Avenue, Oldham.

On arrival crews found a washing machine had caught alight and used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish it. Once the flames had been extinguished the washing machine was safely moved outside of the house.

A ventilation fan was then used to remove the remaining smoke.

Firefighters were at the incident for 20 minutes.


Tumble dryer fire – Manchester

AT 23.23am on Wednesday, February 14, two fire engines from Wythenshawe and one from Stockport were called to a tumble dryer fire in Foxlair Road, Manchester.

The fire began in a tumble in the house and was well alight when crews arrived. To extinguish it, firefighters used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel. Once the fire was out firefighters used a ventilation fan to clear the remaining smoke.

Crews were at the incident for one hour and 45 minutes.
