BETWEEN 8.30am and 5.30pm on Thursday, October 5, 2017, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended 32 incidents.
Forklift truck rescue - Trafford
AT 10:04am on Thursday, October 5, two crews from Stretford and Eccles and the Technical Response Unit and Major Rescue Unit from Ashton-Under-Lyne attended an incident at a commercial premises in Village Way, Trafford Park.
The incident involved a person who had fallen from height and was trapped between a forklift truck and stack of pallets.
Firefighters supported the casualty’s body weight to prevent them from slipping any further, and extricated the casualty using a rope rescue harness and a megapod.
The casualty was lowered onto a stretcher and treated by paramedics at the scene. They were later taken to hospital.
Crews were in attendance for one hour and forty minutes.
Church fire - Heywood
AT 12:15pm on Thursday, October 5, three crews from Heywood and Rochdale attended a fire involving a storage cupboard in a church vestry in Mary Street, Heywood.
Firefighters wearing four breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using two hose reels.
The cause of the fire was accidental. Crews were on the scene for approximately one and half hours.
