Stockport today has a population of 284,000 which makes it the third biggest district in Greater Manchester, spread over 12,560 hectares. The main population centres include Marple, Romiley, Bredbury, Cheadle Hulme, Cheadle, Reddish, Bramhall, Edgeley, the Heatons, Hazel Grove, Gatley, Heald Green, Brinnington and Offerton.

We have fire stations in the following areas: Whitehill, Stockport, Cheadle, Offerton and Marple.

Overview of Stockport

Stockport has an estimated population of 284,000.
There are a total of 115,000 households and 2,000 non-domestic properties i.e. businesses, warehouses etc.
There are a total of 28,000 detached houses, 52,000 semi-detached houses, 18,000 maisonette/apartments, 15,000 blocks of flats and 2,000 shared houses.
Just less than 4% of the population of Stockport is from an ethnic group other than white.
Areas of deprivation which are currently undergoing regeneration include Brinnington, Adswood and Shaw Heath.
