Manufacture & storage of explosives (fireworks)

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, who are the enforcing Authority for the manufacture and storage of explosives (including fireworks), are improving the application process for licences and registrations. The new process intends to deliver a more efficient and more effective service.

The application process may take up to 10 working days once all the completed documents and payment have been returned.

Before downloading the application forms please ensure you have read and understood the following, as these guidelines must be adhered to at all times:

You will need to complete and return the following by post:

• Application for a Registration/Storage Licence - EXP/20 - PDF: 69 KB   
• A suitable risk assessment - PDF (external link)
• The GMFRS Pro Forma - PDF: 19 KB   
• The correct fee by Cheque or Postal Order.

Failure to complete all the enclosed documents correctly will result in the application being refused. An inspecting officer may inspect your premises at any time and may seize any fireworks and revoke your licence or registration if the premises are unsuitable to store explosives.
